Just as I was desperately digging out my winter walking gear the autumn winds have changed direction.
It has been chilly of late, and gloves and some extra warm layers have been very much necessary until the sun rises high enough into the sky.
And then late last night as I was preparing for my evening walk with the pup, I checked the thermometer and was pleasantly shocked that it was 12 C.
To be honest that is what you could rightly expect in July or August.
A quick check of the weather app and it was clear to see that the northerly winds had switched out for the warm continental breeze coming up from mainland Europe.
Early morning frost on the grass was replaced with a thin jumper and a morning walk with my coffee.
Instead of leaves crunching under foot, they rustle and blow around.
It all adds to the magical variety at this time of year as you wander in the most glorious colourful backdrop.
But just like that the winds will once again change so be sure to appreciate this respite as we approach winter.
