I was awoken early this morning by my little daughter. And yet when I checked the clock it wasn’t as early as my mind had thought.
You see the bedroom had no signs of daylight…. And yet it was only just before 6:00 a.m.
It was the first time that the shortening daylight hours have been noticeable.
Whilst we are, of course, almost in September, it is still very green out there.
Maybe as a result of the long, harsh Winter the gorgeous plethora of Autumn colours have not yet arrived in the woods.
We have not needed to have any heating on at home since May, and yet I find myself reaching for a jumper as I drink my morning coffee. It is amazing what just a couple of degrees Celsius difference feels like.
Out in the woods the streams are starting to flow again and marshes and puddles fill up.
With the sun lower in the sky the grass stays damp almost all day.
All of these changes are subtle and small…… Yet it is interseason time. Too early for Autumn, too late for Summer.
