What an absolutely gorgeous sunny weekend we just had in Oslo.
To be fair you might have already forgotten about it given the rainy state of this afternoon and that many of you might be reading this dog blog whilst still drying out. I am still quite damp.
But back to the glorious weekend…. My family and I were extremely fortunate to have the visit of Mari and Nola to Oslo Kennel Klub. The girls are currently staying with us whilst their owners are taking a world deserved long weekend away.
I used our guests as the perfect excuse to head out on some great adventures early both on Saturday and Sunday.
With happy tired doggies it was time to let them relax and sleep in the garden whilst I got on with cabin life.
The big temptation on glorious weather days is to relax and have a long leisurely lunch.
Yet I have a pile of over 200 big logs which need to be cut and split before Winter arrives and we need to use the fireplace.
The earlier I get this done the more heat will be generated from dryer logs.
As one of my elderly neighbours always reminds me when he sees me splitting logs, “collecting your own firewood will warm you twice, whilst buying it only warms you once”.
I am very happy to report that my son Johan has come to the age where he wants to help out daddy with a lot of his tasks.
Always lovely to have an assistant to help move the logs ready for the chainsaw, then pick up the cut smaller logs and put them on the chopping block ready for the axe, before finally moving the finished fire logs and stacking them in the wood pile.
Much like his dad he was clearly loving the challenge as he held out for more than three hours of manual labour before telling me he was tired.
A beautiful weekend to get some good old fashioned simple cabin-like tasks completed.
