Well done to the rock climbing industry!

Firstly quick update on company phone…. Our phone is still out of action and we should get the issue sorted by Thursday or Friday. I will of course update you all once it is back and operational. Thank you so much for your understanding and patience with regards to this.

In the meantime you can contact Matt via our Instagram, Facebook or on email at wholetthedogsoutoslo@gmail.com

Now for today’s blog:

Some of you may well enjoy rock climbing. And I’m sure that many more of you will have tried it at some point during your lives.

I first tried rock climbing when at school in London. And yet it would only be many years later when I moved to the Alps that I really got the bug for it.

Those huge sheer cliff faces posed a challenge and puzzle like game to be attempted.

And so why am I writing about all of this you may be thinking?

Back in Chamonix I bought my first climbing harness along with a load of other climbing equipment.

Many many moons later, more specifically today, I was out adventuring with a pack of dogs when I realized quite how robust all of this equipment is.

15 years later and I am still using that first harness. It has been used at least twice a day for 12 years. Sometimes, and especially if I need to walk into the woods from the road, with up to seven or eight dogs attached to it.

I’m sure you can imagine the type of force that seven or eight dogs can generate pulling, especially when the majority are on trekking harnesses.

And yet the wear and tear on my harness and also on my safety sling (which you use to secure yourself to the rock face when you have led a route) is really minimal.

Whilst I am very impressed, it is not surprising given the consequences of rock climbing equipment failing. Death or serious injury would be the outcome.

On the flip side try buying a dog elasticated running harness…. Then put more than two dogs on it…. And watch as your expensive investment stretches, breaks and pings back into you as the dogs run free.

And so from professional dog walkers worldwide, I would like to thank the rock climbing industry for providing us with sturdy and reliable equipment. 🐾👏
