A return to Happy Place

With the recent high temperatures and the continued melting of the snow, I judged that today would be the perfect time to try out Happy Place.

Happy Place, as the name implies, is one of my favourite walking spots. It has changed a lot down the years that I have known it, both through brutal deforestation and the introduction of a trail dissecting it.

And despite these setbacks it has maintained an air of mystery and wonder.

Over the Winter the access to Happy Place was almost impossible. The snow plows had accumulated massive walls to stop us from parking in our usual spots. It was a shame but it made today’s return all the sweeter.

As the gang and I walked and explored Happy Place it felt like I was catching up with an old friend. We had a lot of news to update each other on.

It was sad to see that the logging machines had clearly visited over the Winter and decimated another parcel of woodland. I noticed all too well how the chosen area had been out of sight of the road so as as few people as possible would know what was happening.
