I am extremely fortunate to live but a stones throw (or tennis ball) from the start of the Woods in which we explore and adventure.
This affords me the unbelievable luxury of the morning Recce or Recon (depending on which part of the English speaking World you have learnt the term).
Both Recce and Recon are military terms and shortened forms of the word “Reconnaissance”. Information gathering.
My daily early morning Recce with Minttu is not just a chance to get some fresh air and for her to go to the toilet.
The weather and walking conditions in my woods are, most of the time, very similar to where we will find ourselves adventuring.
Therefore this brisk 15 minute adventure allows me to test out the clothes and shoes I will need for the day but also to provide useful early morning insights into the conditions, which I can share with the Team before they all leave home.
