Today was a slightly more Wet and Wild Thursday than expected.
Like so many other Oslo residents who got caught out, I had put a certain amount of trust in the Weather Apps. Needless to explain, it was not the dry and sunny Thursday we were told it might be.
Unlike many of those Oslo residents who did get caught out, I luckily had two spare changes of clothes, and some waterproofs in the van, so as to be dry and comfortable again in minimal time.
It is only rain and it won’t kill you. Or will it?
I witnessed a poor lady slide out on her bicycle in the torrential rain. I saw that luckily she avoided hitting her head, and apart from a few cuts and bruises she seemed in good spirits. I got my first aid kit from the van and we did our best to patch her up until she got to work.
She was laughing about the fact that next week she is getting married and that she will most likely have a scab on her leg for all the wedding photos.
I told her that it will make for a good story one day.
I seem to have gone off on a tangent…. Because today I wanted to write about the joy that dogs get from being dried off in a big, comfy towel after having been out in the rain.
Upon returning home, some of the dogs will rub themselves on your doormats (or your neighbours’ doormats) to start the drying off process.
Once inside the door, we hopefully find a big, soft towel with which to envelop your dog. For the next minute or two it is a combination of drying, massage and play. A sort of towel-based Wrestle Mania.
Of course, some dogs are not so keen and therefore we adapt to a more low key and delicate approach.
Then once we are finished, we are greeted with a beaming, smiling face which expects a biscuit, and has a good shake out before lying down to rest and happily await your return later in the day.
Happy Raindays!
