In what is a traditionally pretty dark time of the Year, the little light we get is absolutely splendid.
I am not purely talking about daylight.
With the Sun being lower in the sky, on sunny days the sunlight penetrates at a much lower angle, bathing everything in the most resplendent glow.
During the Winter months you will always see me with sunglasses perched atop my hat. The Sun is so low in the sky that it even manages to get under the sun visors of the van and suddenly everything is a bright blur.
In those moments you don’t want to be spending even 10 seconds looking for your sunglasses.
The basking glow is especially present near dawn and dusk, both painting the sky in an array of colours but also soaking the woods in the most fantastic way.
Here are a few examples from both today and also Saturday when I took my dog out for a morning walk:

These awe inspiring moments during the darkness of Winter warm the soul.
