Wearing rubber boots (gummistøvler) on 4th December tells you all you need to know about how wet the woods are right now.
On dropping off one dog this afternoon, whilst I was chatting with the owner, she asked me if he had been swimming as he was drenched!
“no, no, that is just how wet the woods are right now”
Normally I am not a fan of rubber boots for long dog walks, but needs must.
My Gore Tex boots have been getting hammered by the streams, marshes, undergrowth, grasses and each night they have been drying on the shoe dryer for hours.
New tactic today, and one normally reserved for Autumn. With last weekend’s snow melted and washed away, combined with what has been a wet, damp week it was time to get out the farm wear.
Ironically the pace and tempo of the adventures quickened as i could just plough on through puddles, mud and streams without the slightest care, safe in the knowledge that I wasn’t about to need a sock change.
The forecast going forwards is for more rain, damp and wet weather, so it looks like the rubber boots will live in the work van for now…..
I am also hoping that in doing so the weather gods will send some snow so we can get back to that gorgeous taster of Winter from last week.
