Insider Info

With 4-6 different Walkers Adventuring daily in Oslomarka with your Dogs and driving across Oslo, we like to help out each other.

Whether traffic warnings, updates on walking conditions and certain areas, or just who else is out and about, it is rather handy to get the insider info.

Today as I was heading towards my 2nd Adventure I crossed over with another Walker. We waved, smiled and then 30 seconds later came the audio message. (I have kept following details vague on purpose, so as not to give away a great area).

The message informed me that if I was thinking of using the Valley Walk, that there was a lady in there, with 2 loose large dogs, but who were very friendly.

The information arrived in time for me to adapt the start of my Adventure.

Would the lady and her dogs still be there?

I decided that we would continue with the Valley plan. Switching the dogs to shorter leads to start the Adventure, we would head in a few hundred metres and check / listen if they were still there.

I took enough long leads for all my dogs, and slung them around my neck, in my pockets and clipped to my harness, so that we could hopefully have more fun if we were alone and the coast was clear.

5-10 mins later and we had cleared the area / mineswept like a Military Unit and we could switch out to the longer leads.

I am unsure if “knowledge is power”, but it is certainly very useful to get the inside info so as to best prepare for any potential obstacles or encounters.

Having adventured daily for soon to be 13 years, I know not only most of the other professional Dog Walkers, but also many of the owners who take day time walks, either during a pause from work, or as pensioners enjoying Oslomarka.

The other Professional Walkers will attest to being called up by me so as I can check where they are, which route they are on, any females on heat and roughly which areas they will cover before returning to their vehicles. This allows me to plan my Adventure so as to minimise the chance of meeting their packs, which in turn reduces the inevitable chaos when 2 packs meet.

A little insider info goes a long way with regards to creating a harmonious Adventure. 🐾
