The first week back of Adventures ended in a perfect way today. Bobby the Chihuahua had returned to our walks and I have not seen him in such good shape, or as happy, for many months.
Just after Easter, Bobby developed a health condition which restricted his eating ability.
After countless vet visits and attempts by his owner to get him to eat, his condition was finally diagnosed just before the Summer holidays.
By this point Bobby had lost over 40% of his body weight and was unbelievably, painfully thin. I still vividly remember picking him up and realizing quite how ill he was.
But he was always happy and gave his best on his reduced Adventures, when he was well enough to join.
The situation at one stage was so severe that I had informed the owner that he could contact me 24/7 if he thought that the end was near, so that I could come in and bid farewell to a good friend.
Over the Summer holidays I received photos of a heavier, happier Bobby. Relief doesn’t even go close to the emotion I felt.
Today and on his first Adventure back with the gang he was so happy….. Smiling, exploring and adventuring, grateful to be alive and enjoying the woods.
It was infectious and it made me emotional.
Welcome back Bobby, it was truly amazing to see you again 🐾🥰
