Lost and Found

This blog post is actually not about a lost dog. It is about the things that we find in and around the Woods.

We find all sorts of items of clothing, dog leads, car keys and even toys in the woods.

I always try to pick up every item so as to see if there is a name or phone number attached to it.

When there is a phone number I will then decide if I leave it in the same spot and send a text, or whether I take it with me and try to deliver it back to the owner.

About one week ago I found a disc golf frisbee in the woods as I was starting an evening walk from home. It had a phone number on the back so I took a photo of where I was leaving it and sent it to the owner.

An hour or so later I got a very grateful message back. However the owner of the frisbee informed me that he was actually a way in Sweden for one week, and would I be so kind as to keep hold of the frisbee until his return.

Last night the owner came to pick it up. It turned out to be a young man who I have met on several occasions previously.

My kids had helped him a few times when he was collecting up his array of frisbees after training.

My kids were over the moon to see him again. He asked if we were about to go out and walk our dog. I said that we were, and he said he would meet us by the woods where we had found the frisbee.

10 minutes later and he turned up with two beginner disc golf frisbees, which he informed me were presents for my two eldest kids.

However it did not end here. He then proceeded to teach my children how to throw the frisbees in two different techniques. They absolutely loved this.

After he was finished with the frisbees he then joined us to play some football for five minutes.

What started off as a simple lost and found progressed into thoroughly inspired and happy children.

So next time you’re out for a walk and you see that someone has lost something, maybe take a chance and it could end up as the beginning of a multi generational friendship.
