Learning from the Pack

More than just exercise the dogwalk allows for socialisation and learning from the other pack members.

We have a little Dachs who today was on his 2nd ever pack dogwalk.

It is some pretty deep snow for Dachshunds right now but they seem to absolutely love the conditions. They are born adventurers.

Upon arriving at our first fallen branch on the adventure the little man stopped and looked at the daunting task.

I beckoned him to come and jump over the branch. He looked confused and was not ready to attempt it.

I had two other Dachshunds on the adventure and therefore called them to come and show him. They clambered over with joy.

Having seen how it was done the little pup made it over all by himself. From then on for the rest of the walk there was no hesitation whenever he came to an obstacle.

The pack are the best dog trainers.

Previously we have had dogs that are reluctant or afraid of swimming.

Take the pack out to a lake and start throwing sticks into the water. The reluctant dog may take a few walks but eventually they see that they are missing out and they dare to also dive in. From then on, there is no stopping them.

It is a gorgeous feeling to see our dogs evolving, integrating and pushing their boundaries with the aim of having fun.
