Today I was back in one of my favourite sections of any walk…. The Couloir!
Any downhill skiers amongst you will immediately picture the scene.
The Couloir is steep and it is narrow. In any conditions and at any time of year it is super slippery and immensely fun. If you pick up momentum it is difficult to put the brakes on.
You may well have walked past the entrance to the Couloir 100 times without ever thinking to turn down the little path. It is well hidden away and I have almost never seen any tracks there.
The entrance from the bottom is just as difficult, ensuring it is a little hidden gem for me to take some of the most adventurous dogs. It is a leg burner, it is not for the faint of heart.
Due to the amount of fallen trees and rocks, I have rarely seen it in conditions where I would attempt to ski it. But when that day comes and inevitably it will, I will claim the first descent.
In the meantime it is a beautiful section of walk which then leads us down into The Playground.
The Playground is a large open and steep bowl off to the side. Suddenly the thick woods are thinned out and there are lots of opportunities for snowball and stick throwing.
As the name suggests, the dogs absolutely love it.
