With the recent warm temperatures and the melting of the snow and ice, more trails and areas are opening up to us once again to explore.
This afternoon my group and I attempted to access the Playground from below. Firstly we had to drop into a neighbouring gully and traverse the steep slope to check the conditions.
Had there been too much snow or ice remaining we would not have attempted it.
The access leads you to a 20 cm narrow ledge and then a two metre scramble. I had my energetic group along with one old boy.
The old boy loves adventure and I certainly didn’t want to limit his fun just for that one off two metre move. The others bounded up and I waited for him so as to hoist him above my head and onto the next ledge from where he would be able to progress.
Picking our way through a boulder field we arrive at the bottom of the Playground for the first time this year. It certainly didn’t disappoint and we find the remnants of fresh untouched snow from the whole Winter.
The dogs are loving it and it is a fabulous reward for our efforts.
Below and through the trees we can see the city beneath us. These are mountain-like adventures within a stone’s throw of Oslo.
You just need to explore to find these hidden pearls.
