You may well remember that a few months ago I wrote a few blog posts regarding the amount of trees being chopped down in Maridalen.
Some of these areas were pretty much completely cleared of beautiful pine trees, leaving an open, scorched shrub-like landscape.
Well this afternoon I decided that enough time had gone past and that I needed to go and explore in depth what we had lost.
I have avoided the area ever since the chopping of the trees due to the devastation that the machines that they use cause to the forest floor.
As I drove past and looked at the vast expanse of nothing I could see the green shoots of nature’s recovery.
A quick U-turn of the van and I was parked up and ready to explore with my gang.
It was a strange feeling and much like walking through the devastation of a warzone.
I could see familiar features in the landscape where I had walked nearly a thousand times and yet it all seemed so confusing and different.
It was a very bitter-sweet experience but the positives that I took out of it were that nature was fighting back already with bushes, trees and plants springing up everywhere.
