Sundays

This afternoon whilst out on my adventure I was accompanied by a friend. We were talking about life, dogs, careers and anything and everything.

I started to recount that I used to dread Sundays in my old jobs. I remember that feeling that the weekend was almost over and the working week would start again soon.

If you think about it, then it is ridiculous as Sunday is one of our 2 full days off a week…. But it still felt plagued by dread of work.

I was explaining to my friend that whilst I now need to work a couple of hours on a Sunday it feels like I am planning the week’s Adventures.

The dread is replaced by an excitement as I look over groups, dogs, areas, maps and weather reports. I take this task as seriously as a mountain guide would prepare for an expedition.

There is always room for flexibility and change in the plans, but it is amazing to start dreaming about the fun of work.

My friend however mentioned that she was still in the dread phase, whilst she explores different career options.

My advice was simple: just keep looking until you find that thing that motivates you to go to work. Then work will become play.
