Friday Afternoon Family Fun (FAFF)

Tomorrow my parents will be heading back to London after one week in Oslo.

They have been extremely fortunate with the gorgeous weather we have had this week and that has also allowed my mother to join on many adventures.

Today she wanted to fit in one last walk of the holiday and as she knows my Friday afternoon group very well she was excited to accompany us.

Over the years my mum has met some of these doggy friends over 30 times on the walks. They always remember her and are happy to get more cuddles.

As we explored in the woods and once again my mother found herself scrambling up hills, hopping over trees or descending steep slopes she mentioned something…

“I used to wonder why you referred to your dog walks as adventures. But in all the times I have joined you I don’t think we’ve ever had what I would consider a walk”

My mother walks three or four times a week with her friends between five and ten kilometers. And yet it would seem that she has to up her game, her focus and her inner Indiana Jones to join the dogs and I.

She loves it! My mother rarely backs down from a challenge. The unknown is an opportunity to explore and have fun. In my family it seems to have been passed down on both sides, through many generations.

So it begs the question: why walk when you can adventure?

Happy Weekend!
