This morning I had to stay home with my sick daughter. Unfortunately she got a high temperature last night, despite having been well during the day.
As always I am unbelievably grateful to those customers who were unbelievably kind, understanding and flexible in moving their dogs to another day.
I am also super grateful to my partner’s mother who informed me she would be able to come in and look after my daughter from the middle of today. This would allow me to take a little group, who live close by, ensuring that we didn’t have to cancel anyone.
It goes to show that the answer to the question “who let the dogs out?” is not any single person, but a group effort.
This morning I spent my time deep in Duplo. I also built a fantastic Brio train line. We were having amazing fun.
The group WhatsApp chat was full of fun messages of how amazing the woods were, and new parking spaces which have been cleared and are now ready to explore. We love to share tips and good vibrations between the whole team, even for those who are maybe not walking today.
Fuelled by a few too many coffees, I could feel the anticipation and excitement starting to build. By the time that I was relieved of my duties, I was fully clothed, keys in pocket and heading out the door.
The tiger’s cage was now unlocked…..
Over the years and as the business has grown I have been asked if I take half days to catch up on office work.
3 or 4 years ago, and during a period where we had a lot of staff, I took this opportunity.
The result was intriguing and eye opening. The first few weeks I was productive and enjoyed getting on top of emails and admin.
After 2 weeks however I’ve found myself ringing up other walkers and asking if I could tag along on their Adventures.
I have a lot of energy to burn and I am not so good at sitting still. Therefore I might as well use this superpower for good….. And by good, I mean great adventures.
With a half day of enforced rest in my legs, they were ready to hit the trails and deep snow super hard this afternoon.
And my team were absolutely not joking when they said how fantastic the conditions up in the woods were today.
The snow tiger certainly had fun and so did your dogs.
