Whoever wrote the song referring to Christmas as the most Wonderful Time of the Year clearly has not been walking in the Norwegian Woods between Spring and Summer.
As a side note I feel Christmas is overrated and over commercialized…. Clearly I have become a Grinch in my Middle Aged years.
In my opinion, apart from after a good snowfall of fresh white gold, this right now is the best time of the year.
You may well have noticed that, purely within the last week, the foliage on all the trees and bushes around Oslo has exploded with a plethora of greens. Up in the woods and suddenly we are finding shade again under the new, fresh tree canopy.
This time of year is generally too early for the mosquitoes…. And, whilst they are starting to appear, the ants are not in full conquest of the forest.
These two last factors enable Walkers and Dogs to pause and relax without the fear of being bitten or crawled upon.
The weather of late has been absolutely succulent and yet I can see that the woods are already dry and in desperate need of some rain. We will not be disappointed when the watery deluge finally arrives, despite loving the current weather.
