Bumping into a great old Friend

This morning I got out on my first dog adventure nice and early. The benefits of the early start include getting to pick a fantastic area to explore.

Just before I arrived where I would park I noticed a car parked up on the side of the road.

I recognised the car and despite not remembering my former customers’ exact registration number plate (which would be a little too Rain Man for my liking) I had my suspicions that Quila and Knut were in the Woods and we might get to see them.

For those of you who are new to the blog, Quila retired from our Dog Adventures in the Spring after many, many years and fantastic Adventures together. Both her owners and I had concluded that it was the right time for her to retire. I miss her and often think about her when driving near her house or in the Woods we explored together.

Back to today, and as we arrived by the viewpoint at the top of the hill we bumped into them. Just like my good self, I noticed that she had become a bit grayer in the muzzle.

I should add that Quila used to be on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and therefore she knew all of the Gang who I had with me.

It was a joyous reunion and so lovely to get to hug her again after five months. I chatted with Knut as the dogs caught up noisily and excitedly with their old friend.

The Dogs are not just our friends whilst we Adventure together, they are friends for life and even long after they pass away, each and every dog lives in the memory.

It is hard to put into words quite how much joy and how lovely it was to bump into Quila this morning and get a cuddle from my dear old friend.
