Sevā

On Friday night I was relaxing late evening after the sun had gone down. The Walking Week was over and I was reflecting on the week’s Adventures with the dogs. My Border Collie, Minttu, was sleeping, exhausted from so many good times, dreaming of Oslomarka.

With my kids asleep and a quiet house I did what so many do…… I opened Instagram after getting a message from one of the customers whose dog had been on their final adventure with us, pre moving away from Oslo.

After reading the heartwarming message, I started to scroll.

After 2 minutes a video caught my attention.

A delivery man in the UK was caught unawares on CCTV from the house he was delivering to. He delivered the parcel at the front door. Just then, it started to rain. The washing was still out on the washing line in the garden of the house.

The delivery man, took the washing down, folding it and placing it under a covered porch area of the house.

It was a selfless act that no one would expect of him. Unbeknownst to him he was on video, but he was doing it despite the fact he would never get any recognition or reward for it.

I headed to the comments’ section and was pleased to see the love and gratitude being expressed.

One of the comments mentioned that the man looked like he might be a Sikh, and as such he was following the principles of Sevā.

I must admit that I had never heard of this before. So I turned to Google, ChatGPT and Wikipedia to find out more.
