A little funny story from early today to share with you.
As human beings we like to have a sense of control and general sense of Direction.
This can both be applied to literally knowing where we are heading geographically, but also where we are heading in life.
The unknown often evokes anxiety in some people.
As I was preparing my kids to head to kindergarten this morning, I was outside putting the waterproof cover over the buggy.
I suddenly heard the all the too familiar sounds of migratory birds approaching overhead.
I craned my head skywards and witnessed about 25 geese flying in perfect echelon formation. I have previously written about how this is one of the natural wonders of our planet and something I thoroughly enjoy witnessing.
There I was, stood looking up in awe and thinking to myself how amazing their journey is. I wondered quite how they could navigate so precisely year on year, to travel these great distances.
Just as I was marvelling at their built in impeccable GPS…. Suddenly they started making a lot of noise, just as they were above me…. It was heating squaking and clearly a disagreement.
I then witnessed all of the birds flying a full circle, before finally agreeing which way was South. This, I must say, I have never witnessed before.
And it goes to show that even the most routined and practiced tasks sometimes go wrong and we have to adapt, analyze and set a new course.
A big thank you to the wonder of Nature for reminding me how everything is imperfect. It certainly brought a smile to my face.
