A little story from what happened earlier today.
I got a voice message late morning from one of the Team, detailing a slight issue and telling me I needed to contact the dog’s owner as soon as possible.
As a side note, we tend to use voice messages much like a walkie talkie set up, as it is easier than calling as we are all in and out of houses, or deep in the woods, throughout the day.
But back to the issue “du jour”.
I composed myself and dialled the owner’s number. No answer, but he rang back almost immediately.
I greeted him and apologized for disturbing him during work hours. I reassured him that his dog was fine, but that there had been a slight issue I thought he needed to know about straight away.
I explained that it seemed that during the morning and before his Dog Adventure, the dog in question had a bad stomach.
Unfortunately the dog had pooed on the floor.
Now I know what you’re thinking….. These things happen and it can be dealt with quite quickly.
I then proceeded to explain that the robot vacuum cleaner which had been scheduled for mid morning had clearly encountered the poo….. Thereby painting its unwanted masterpiece across the entire flat.
I have known this customer for many years and he is unbelievably calm.
I can only imagine the internal turmoil as he searched for a polite way to thank me for letting him know what had happened.
I went on to explain that we wanted to let him know as soon as possible so that he was not confronted with this “poo-mageddon” when returning from kindergarten with his daughter mid afternoon.
We ended our chat and I can only imagine he went off for a quick cry in a dark corner.
If this story can help others….. Then at the first sign that your dog has a bad stomach on your morning walk together, please cancel your scheduled robot vacuum cleaner.
