Hit the Ground Running

Many, many moons ago in a land far, far away (also known as the United Kingdom) I used to work in an office job….. Corporate style blah, blah, blah….

One of my old Team Leaders, who shall remain anonymous, used to try and motivate us with his best Business Handbook ideology.

Early on a Monday morning he would get the Team together and inform us that we needed to “hit the ground running” this week.

“Let’s get up to speed as quickly as possible on this Monday”.

I’m not sure that he actually believed his own bull excrement. We certainly didn’t believe it and if anything it was another case of Business Bingo during another meeting about a meeting about a meeting.

And yet this morning these very words came back to inspire me.

Shuffling my dog packs around to ensure similar energy levels….. I saw the opportunity to “hit the ground running” from early Monday morning.

During part of the run we needed to jog alongside the railway line. I took the opportunity to wave to the commuters heading towards their office jobs. This was not in a boastful way but more of a “been there, done that, got the t-shirt, won’t be doing it again” kind of vibe.
