When the Stars align

Bright sunshine, a Friday mid-morning, the most beautiful period of the year, perfect hiking weather…… All the signs were there….. And yet I wanted to check regardless.

In my mind there was “very little to no chance” Mobekken Parkeringsplass wouldn’t have lots of cars.

If I had a job where I “worked from home” I would be here…. ready to head up to Maridalsalpene and Mellomkollen Nature Reserve.

I had my walk location planned but I could drive 2 different ways to get there…. So I chose the one which goes past Mobekken. What’s the harm in checking?

Heading down into the Valley and as I approached the hairpin bend I tentatively looked into the car park…..

I had to do a double take…… Not a single car or van parked up.

Immediate change of plan!!! I swung into the car park and started my Adventure before anyone else could arrive!

To say it was stunning is an understatement. What a lovely hike!

About 30 mins after setting off, I received a WhatsApp with a photo of my truck from Zuzana, asking which way I had gone.

She had also chanced driving past to see if the area was free from other people.

I encouraged her and her gang to come and Adventure. If we were to meet, all the dogs knew each other and it wouldn’t be a problem.

Yet we hatched a plan to divide the mountain into 2 sides. If you know the path I am writing about, you will know that there is a left / right fork shortly after the Waterfall (which I geo-tagged onto Google Maps 6 months ago so that more people can find it).

And so Maridalsalpene were filled with bouncing, happy pups today.
