Alpine Roadtrip

I miss the Alps.

It is 13.5 years since I last resided there and I’ve actually not even been back for a visit since leaving.

For all the nostalgia and the great memories from down the years, I have actually not ever thought about moving back.

On two separate occasions I have lived for a combined total of just under three years in the high French alpine mountains, firstly in Val d’Isère, then in Chamonix Mont Blanc. In addition to this I have visited, skied and adventured at well over 100 resorts across the French, Swiss and Italian Alps.

I have driven over many a mountain pass during a good snowstorm, normally in old and not very appropriate vehicles.

Imagine therefore my absolute delight, throughout this Tuesday, at being sent down memory lane with some great snowy driving conditions.

Whilst Oslo struggled to cope with the snow coming down gloriously throughout the entire day, I drove around with the biggest smile on my face.

Downtown Oslo reminded me of a busy ski resort packed with tourists, whilst the small roads up to the woods reminded me of those lovely mountain roads and passes.

There weren’t many snow plows to be found and to be honest that only added to a day of adventuring.

Almost all of our fleet of vehicles are four-wheel drive and we were easily able to access some prime walking locations, so as to allow your dogs maximum snow enjoyment.

Back to the smiling Brit driving around in his old pickup truck, listening to music from 15 years ago, and it made for the most splendid snowy day of fun.
