Why don’t we start the Walking Week with a rather heart warming Dog Blog?
The story in question is actually from last Thursday, whilst I was picking up one of my regulars.
As I parked up my van an elderly lady was walking past with an old Dachshund. I can’t recall ever having crossed their paths beforehand, and I am normally pretty good with remembering faces.
The elderly lady stopped, read the sign on the side of my van saying Dog Adventures in Oslomarka” then looked at me and smiled.
I often get a happy and positive reaction from quite a few strangers I drive past throughout the walking day, so this was not out of place.
However she stopped and looked at me and said the following (but in Norwegian).
“Thank you. Thank you for the terrific work that you do and the great service you provide in helping people and dogs. I think it is absolutely brilliant and it makes me very happy to know that there are companies like yours”
I have to admit that I was caught a little off guard and became a little emotional at the kind words this Lady had said.
We ended up chatting for a few more minutes and she introduced me to her dog who in his latter years was now deaf, but still in good shape.
After we parted and bid each other a good day, I went to pick up my regular pup. Upon arriving back of my van I saw the elderly lady watching on as the excited dog leapt into the back of the truck, ready to go on Adventure.
The lady beamed a big smile and summed up her thoughts in the word “fantastisk!” as she waved and carried on her journey.
The lady had really no need to vocalize her thoughts to me. And yet she chose to share kindness, compassion and gratitude to a total stranger.
The result is that over 4 days later and I still smile at the thought of her kind actions.
