A pretty wet yet wonderful start to the Walking Week today.
All in all it was a pleasant hiking temperature and very few of the people braving the rain, so we were not disturbed on our Adventures.
Quite a few of your dogs were enjoying having their raincoats on given the conditions. Others were happy just to get wet, run and play.
With the rain continuing to wash away the remnants of the snow it is enabling us to Adventure on trails we have not explored so far in 2026.
During peak Winter we try as best as we can to stay out of the cross country ski tracks….. This is done so that we do not disturb skiers, and also so that we don’t damage the pristine tracks.
Marka might be for everyone, yet I have never understood those people who insist on walking in the ski tracks during the height of Winter and the few months that they are in use. There are countless good trails in the woods which are much more pleasant, picturesque and ideal for taking your dog along.
A quick reminder to one and all that if you could leave a dog towel near your entrance door then this will greatly help us in drying your wet dog. If you would like us to use their rain jacket then please leave it visible in the vicinity of the entrance area.
For the moment the remaining snow is keeping your dogs clean…. But give it a few days and more and more muddy patches and puddles will arrive.
However from Wednesday onwards it looks like we might get the return of some sunshine. I will believe it when I see it.
