The Warm Up

What an absolutely glorious week of sunshine we are getting so far. Afternoon temperatures which would not look out of place in June or even slightly cooler July Days here in Oslo.

Both Walkers and Dogs are making the most of it to top up on vitamin D and shed the layers.

However the early mornings are still surprisingly chilly.

Up in the woods the nighttime temperatures are still dropping to 1-2C. Luckily as the sun rises higher in the morning sky the temperatures soar pretty quickly.

I was out early on my first adventure and as we started I zipped up my hoodie, pulling the hood up over my baseball cap to keep my head warm.

On such mornings I always find it is better to dress lightly but head for a good hilly adventure. Get a good tempo and get the blood flowing, and in combination with the increasing sunshine, you will be unzipping your top and rolling up your sleeves in less than 10 minutes.

The general rule is also the higher you get the better the view, which is an added bonus.

All these years later my former Physical Education (PE) teachers would be proud that I remember that a good warm up sets a great foundation for better performance.
