Today marks Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday.
In the last 100 years it is hard to think of another person who has had a greater impact on promoting, protecting and educating about Nature, the Planet and the Animal World.
Sir David has actually lived most of his life only a short distance across Richmond Park in London from where I grew up.
Over the last 75 or so years Sir David and his camera teams have wowed the World through awe inspiring documentaries and programs. I absolutely loved these as a kid, and now I absolutely love watching them with my kids.
In what is becoming an era of screens, he has consistently delivered a call to go out and explore the World. It clearly inspired me enough to get out adventuring and experience the natural beauty around us.
To have to pick my favourite David Attenborough series from down the years is an impossible task….. It is like being asked which one is your favourite child (unless of course you are an only child, and then hopefully your parents give the right answer)
Today in his honour there are parties, celebrations and concerts to mark his 100th birthday, both in the UK but also around the World.
Sir David Attenborough is somewhat of a National Treasure…. A leader and Pioneer within the Environmental World, at a time where we are severely lacking in good World Leaders and role models.
So instead of raising a glass to celebrate sir David’s 100th birthday, I would encourage you all to actually just take a walk in Nature to celebrate his legacy.
