Just over 1 month ago I wrote a blog post in which I said that it was currently the best time of year for exploring Oslomarka.
The snow had receded and melted in most places, allowing trails and areas to open up once more to exploration.
Many of you whom I have met over the last few weeks have said that with the sunshine and warmth this must be the best time of year. Do not get me wrong it is unbelievably glorious to head out exploring at the moment.
The reason for my previous comment all those weeks ago was that Nature was blossoming but had not yet truly awoken.
With the warm weather and the sunshine we have to contest with various obstacles:
- Pollen is a constant source of frustration for any Walkers or Dogs with allergies
- Ants have now made their full comeback and can be seen crawling on every trail and rock throughout the woods. It is amazing where you find them sometimes on your body.
- Ticks have also returned from their hibernation, though it is great to see so many of our dogs using preventative medication.
- With the warmth and end of the melt season, the streams and rivers start to dry up and become a little more stagnant.
- Whilst I have only received two bites so far this year it would appear that the mosquitoes are also on their way.
All of these things are very bearable and do not detract from the fun of adventuring. They are more of a minor inconvenience. Certainly don’t use any of these factors to restrict your own Adventures in our surrounding Nature Paradise.
But do be careful not to sit down or take a pause near an Ant nest
