We had been forecast the possibility of lightning and thunder this afternoon here in Oslo.
It was due to arrive mid to late afternoon and therefore would not affect too much the walks, or your dogs.
However the heavy rains started coming down just after 2:00 p.m.
Despite multiple warnings, this seemed to catch a lot of Oslo residents unaware. Not too many umbrellas or rain jackets were visible as people ran for cover.
I could have predicted either thunder and lightning or at least a good storm. Why?
Almost each and every year when my kids’ kindergarten organize their Summer Party two months in advance, they manage to pick out thunder and lightning with almost an hourly accuracy.
As I watched the rain settling in I hatched a plan. The show must go on and always happens regardless of the weather. Many of my fellow parents would not have time to pop home and grab waterproofs.
I however had to drop off Minttu (my dog) at home before heading down. I grabbed my waterproof bag and as many of my raincoats and umbrellas as I could find.
The ones that would not fit into my overflowing bag were thrown into the truck.
I arrived at kindergarten with a veritable waterproof wardrobe to dispense amongst those unprepared parents.
Never miss an opportunity to be kind
As for the walks today we were unbelievably lucky to mostly explore and adventure in the glorious sunshine.
In this case the early bird catches the sun tan!
