If you followed our Instagram over the weekend you will know that my trusty dog Minttu and I were out exploring.
We were exploring in Maridalen, with the hope of opening up some new trails and areas.
On Sunday we crested the West ridgeline, initially on a path we knew with the aim of exploring the East facing slopes.
It is the last large area of Maridalen which is largely unknown to our Adventures. The simple reason for this, it is very difficult to stop or park along the road on that side of the Valley, and there are a good scattering of properties and cabins adorning the slopes.
By traveling light and only taking my dog, it gave me a lot more flexibility to explore. You don’t really want to find yourself making mistakes when taking a whole group of dogs and having to hike back along a road with everyone on lead.
In the end we zigzagged up and down the slope as we worked our way back down the Valley towards Hammeren and direction Oslo.
At times there were absolutely no trails, as we clambered over boulders and picked our way through thick, dense woods.
Suddenly we would come across a small trail which we would explore all the way down to where it joined the road, hoping to find a large enough area where in future I could stop my van.
Over and over again we found fantastic areas and trails but alas very limited parking opportunities.
Overall it was an amazing Adventure and it has certainly opened up some new areas, with gorgeous Nature, to explore below some of the paths which we previously knew.
The Holy Grail of a new parking spot from which to launch Adventures was not found, but that certainly did not make the mission a failure.
It was lovely to fill in a missing area piece into the jigsaw puzzle of Maridalen
