Ice Scraping

A little Monday morning surprise early today as I took my 2 eldest kids to School and Barnehage.

We arrived at the van to find the windscreen covered in a thin layer of ice. It was clearly a chilly start to the Walking Week.

It must have been 6 months or so since I last needed to chisel the ice from the van. As I rummaged around in the van, trying to find the scraper so as not to become late, a thought dawned up me: we never needed to waste time on finding ice scrapers in the days before Apps.

Gone are the plethora of loyalty cards we used to cram into our wallets and purses. In times of old after 30 seconds, out would come the wallet, find a pointless loyalty card and get to work on scraping the ice.

I would not recommend using bank cards as they snap very easily in two from my experience.

Nor is the modern solution of Apps useful, as your phone is also not that resilient in the face of ice.

Eventually I found the hidden ice scraper and got to work. My increasingly impatient children looking on as daddy enjoyed his first ice-scrape of Winter. It will no doubt be the first of many!

But let’s bring back loyalty cards as an ice scraping back up which doesn’t ping as a notification on your phone and sell your data.
