Tomorrow is Norwegian national day. It is looking like we are going to have glorious sunshine with which to celebrate the public holiday.
Many of you will be heading downtown to watch kids go in procession in front of the royal family. I imagine it is a very proud moment for many parents. And in a few years I will be partaking, watching my children happily waving to the crowds.
However this year I will be avoiding the city and the mass celebrations. With next Monday also being a public holiday it gave me the opportunity to head with the family to the cabin for four days of nature.
I strongly believe that Norwegian national day should be about finding what Norway means to you and then celebrating it in this way.
So what does Norway, my adopted land, mean to me?
Nature, forest, mountains, snow, scenery, adventure, freedom… These are just some of the words that spring to mind.
However Norway would not be Norway without my dog and without your dogs.
Tomorrow, as for the last five 17th Mays, I will be heading out into nature on a great adventure with the entire family, dog bounding happily.
I am lucky that in my work I get to celebrate what I love most about Norway each and every day.
Maybe think about what Norway specifically means to you and celebrate it in this way tomorrow.
Wishing you all an extremely happy 17th May 🇧🇻🐾
