Headlights

Little funny tale from Friday to recount and start this week of blogs.

On Friday I suddenly realised that my right-side headlight on the truck had gone. Luckily it was a gorgeous day and no rush to replace the blown bulb.

Not wanting to interrupt the flow of adventures and disrupt my doggy companions I decided to replace the headlight post walks and drop offs, on my drive home.

Little did I realise the consequences of this very decision.

I entered the petrol station and chatted away to the attendant who knows me. He pointed at where the headlight bulbs now were after a recent reorganization of the shop.

As i bent down to search for the H4 bulb I suddenly got a pat on the head as a voice boomed out “halllla!”.

Looking up I saw one of my good mates Axel towering over me. For those who follow the blog you might remember I ran Nordmarka Skogsmaraton with Axel back on 22nd June.

We both have young kids and we haven’t had a chance to catch up since that lovely race day.

We chatted away updating each other on the Summer and how life was going.

Then Axel came out with it: “You checked out Ivar Formos Minneløp race coming up on 12th October? It’s brutal but we should definitely do it.”

I started laughing, pulled out my phone and showed Axel the open tab on my internet app with the race website. I had been contemplating it the night before.

It was fate and now there was no escaping it.

Blown headlight = one brutal race entry and a month or so of hill training to be in race shape for the big day.

There are going to be some very happy and tired doggies helping me train over the coming month. Let’s Go!
