This afternoon I was out exploring with a fantastic group in the glorious sunshine.
The temperatures were cool enough that all the dogs had loads of energy and therefore we were playing lots of games.
Sticks were being thrown but also I was running.
I was using the stunning light and scenery as an opportunity to get some filming done and some great photos, I hope you agree when you see them lower down.
In my final video segment I had all the dogs sitting down before we burst off, full blast, through the forest.
We were picking up speed and all the dogs were bouncing everywhere.
Minttu, as always, was going full cannonball.
Suddenly I heard her whimpering loudly in pain as she limped back on 3 legs towards me with her tail between her legs.
To put this in context, she is tough as nails and never complains.
She was now lying down and I examined her paw. There was no sign of any external injury.
I picked her up (she normally absolutely refuses to be picked up in any circumstance) and started carrying her back towards the van, wondering if I should immediately call my vet.
Minttu is about 18kg and so after roughly one kilometre I needed to put her down to take a break.
She stood up, wagged her tail and started playing with 2 of her mates who were besides us!
Drama Queen still seems absolutely fine now as I write….. But I will treat her to a little doggie massage later this evening.
