A little help from our friends

I had a dog who took themselves a little solo walk today. It happens every now and again with the exciting smells and potential adventures out in the woods.

We have procedures in place and steps to follow. The main thing is to remain calm.

I follow the advice of one of my favourite quotes : “worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you anywhere”

What always surprises me is how the dog community come together when needed.

Returning to the van I flagged down three passing cars to ask them if they had seen a dog running loose with a long red lead behind it. All the three vehicles turned out to be dog people.

One absolutely delightful pensioner insisted on driving all of the roads nearby, coming back each time to inform me whether or not he had seen the dog.

This was absolutely above and beyond any reaction I could have asked for.

The delightful man, whose name I unfortunately did not get, informed me that he knew who I was as his wife was a regular reader of the dog blog.

If she reads today’s blog I would ask her to drop me a quick message or email so that I can show my appreciation for his efforts.

A little while later and after following a few more steps, calling around and our usual procedures the dog turned up safe and sound.

We were reunited with a happy and quite tired solo adventurer.

Once again a huge thank you to all of those lovely people who helped out this afternoon.

Things may not always go to plan but they almost always will work out.
