Birthday Dog Adventures

Happy Monday and welcome to the new Walking Week.

To kickstart the week I hope you will allow me to write a little personal blog today.

I will resume my usual blog blend of dogs, philosophy and weather tomorrow.

But today there was a trinity of events which led to one very happy little girl.

The first event was that a few of you are away today, having taken a long weekend allowing a more relaxed Monday Adventure planning.

The second event was that it was Teacher Training Day at my kids’ Kindergarten.

The third event, and I hope you will agree the most important, was that today is my gorgeous daughter’s birthday. Happy 3rd birthday Anna.

Time certainly flies and I still remember the daunting task of cutting your umbilical cord.

A big thank you goes out to two of the Team for taking on an extra dog or two each, which allowed me to spend the morning celebrating Anna’s birthday with her.

After watching her immense joy at receiving her pink and white bicycle as a birthday present, we spent the next few hours up in the woods behind where we live.

Just as you would expect Anna insisted that Minttu (our dog) join us on the Adventure, along with her older brother, Johan.

And so the morning was spent with a Family stick-throwing and retrieving Adventure. We also found some amazing hideouts to explore in the woods.

Mid-morning, and with some very happy and tired children, it was time to hand them back to Mummy and Grandma and go off on my solo Dog Adventure.

As a parent it is hard to overstate the happiness of passing on a passion and appreciation of both the simplicity and complexity of Nature. Whilst it may be many moons ago, it seems like just yesterday that I was a similar age, throwing sticks for our family dog Guinness in Richmond Park, London as my parents handed down the same passion.

Happy Monday everyone and happy 3rd birthday to my darling daughter Anna.
