Today I managed to finish off the most wonderful and interesting audiobook regarding dogs which I have listened to thus far.
I would like to quickly add that I have no connection to the author and there is no sponsorship with regards to today’s dog blog.
Inside of a Dog by Alexandra Horowitz is an eye opening and intriguing examination of all things dog related.
It is by no means a quick read or listen, regardless of your favourite format. The audiobook which I have listened to in the work van is over 10 hours long.
Whilst it is fascinating, it is also one of those books where you need to take pauses, so as to reflect on the information which has been divulged.
Alexandra is clearly a fantastic blend of animal behaviourologist, scientist and dog lover (and owner).
The resulting book is like an Ode to Dogs.
The book covers everything from their interactions with each other, to their interactions with us…. Also heading back tens of thousands of years to also examine their origins.
Having worked and observed dog groups daily for 12.5 years, even I was astounded at how much I could learn.
The book has also changed my relationship with my own dog, Minttu. Certain movements, looks and body positions are now hopefully better understood.
If any of you are looking for a wonderful read or listen, then as dog lovers I can’t recommend this book enough.
