The Weekend is generally seen as a time to recharge your batteries metaphorically.
After the exertions and adventures of the week, the weekend allows batteries to top up…… But apparently not literally as I found out yesterday.
Yesterday afternoon I was heading to swimming with my son for his weekly course. We jumped into the van as we were running a few minutes late.
I turned the key …… Nothing.
Very strange I thought, my van has started first time all year round for at least 5 years, no problems.
I tried again….. No no, nothing.
Time to call in a favour and get my son to his swimming course on time. His best friend also goes to the same weekly course, so after a quick call, he was picked up and on his way.
Now it was time to figure out how to ensure van was functioning to drop back a dog who had stayed over the weekend.
Another favour called in and my good neighbour (and dog lover) drove his car next to mine and we jump started the van.
He also mentioned in passing that a different neighbour had a battery charger in his garage which he had previously borrowed.
5 minutes later and I had also borrowed this to ensure the van would start Monday morning.
Always lovely to see so many people happy and willing to help out in a mini moment of need.
Fast forward to Monday morning and I was down at a large automotive warehouse picking up 2 batteries to switch out both my batteries and ensure the van is ready for the colder times ahead.
What could have been a draining experience was actually recharging thanks to so many kind people.
