World War 2 German plane wreckage

Late last Friday night, and despite having just finished an energetic Walking Week, I spied the opportunity for an early Saturday morning Adventure.

On Friday I had been walking up near Maridalsalpene with a friend and I mentioned that a good bit further on was a World War 2 German plane wreckage.

On Friday we didn’t have time to make it all the way up there but if I woke up at 5 am I would easily have time to drink my coffee, get ready and still make it there for Sunrise. (We ended up getting there well before sunrise 🤣 )

I also decided to take my video camera and make a mini documentary of the Adventure, if you have six minutes to spare…..

I apologise for quite how dark some of the footage is…. Luckily I managed to also take some much clearer photos on my phone, which are included in the video.

For those of you who want to watch the video, I will not ruin any of the surprise, but I do highly recommend visiting the plane wreckage if ever you are looking for an easy hike with your dogs before the snow arrives.

Depending on where you start from it will probably take 1 – 2.5 hours (round trip).

The wreckage is not very well signposted and therefore I would recommend using Google Maps as you get closer to it, as there are numerous small paths in the woods.
