There is an English saying which is “start the day as you mean to go on”
Sometimes the impulse comes from within, and sometimes something happens to influence you.
This Friday morning I jumped into the work van as always. Upon starting Truckosaurus, my Bluetooth kicked in and my music started up.
Clearly yesterday afternoon I had been enjoying the sunshine and good vibes, and therefore in the darkness of an Oslo Friday morning on came DMX.
Normally I would go for something a little bit more relaxing to kickstart the day. But as the opening bars of “X gon’ give it to ya” blasted out of the stereo two things happened.
Number 1 a big smile came across my face.
Number 2, and for anyone who is familiar with the song, the opening few seconds include a dog barking. This noise was enough to send my border collie jumping into the front passenger seat to try and find who was making the noise.
It would seem that DMX had very much woken us both up.
Friday had started in a great way and it was only going to get better. Inspired by some nostalgic hip hop and rap, I let the Spotify algorithm continue with some great suggestions.
Sunglasses on and singing along as I was picking up the dogs, I got a few strange looks by others commuting to work. It would seem that being too happy during working hours is frowned upon in our modern serious society.
So as you may also get the weekend started I will put the link to the song below.
Please be aware that Mr DMX has, what I would tell my children, a bit of a potty mouth. If you are easily offended by swearing it is probably best not to click on the link
At one point in the song DMX uses a triple negative….. This was also popular in Shakespeare’s works. For most of you this will probably be the first time you are comparing DMX to Shakespeare.
Happy weekend one and all
