Dog Walking is a game of Fine Margins in so many ways.
A chance meeting, a split second of time, a glimpse through the trees, a mere 0.5C temperature change, all can have a significant impact on an Adventure, a day, a week or a lifetime.
For the more aged amongst you, maybe you remember the 1998 film “Sliding Doors” with John Hannah and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Today’s fine margin appeared on our way to Adventure number 2. We were in the van and suddenly the heavens opened…. It was a case of windscreen wipers on full blast and rain…. Yet as we approached Maridalen and arrived at Brekkekrysset the rain was turning to sleet….. 3 km further down the road it would turn to rather large fluffy snowflakes.
And this was what we went adventuring in! A mere half degree centigrade in temperature change had completely altered the mood, morale and adventure which was to be had.
In recognising both the importance and also sheer luck of such fine margins, it allows for gratitude at both the simplicity and complexity of Nature and Life
