Filling up

Imagine my elation early this morning went on my way to my first dog adventure I saw that the price per litre of diesel was 22.09 Nok.

The past 6 or 7 weeks have not been particularly kind for anyone who owns a diesel vehicle, let alone three four-wheel drive versions of them.

Despite the tank being 75% full I thought this was too good an opportunity to miss out on.

As I pulled up to the pump another vehicle pulled up on the opposite side. Not just any vehicle but exactly the same Toyota Hilux as I was driving.

The driver gave me the customary smile that Hilux drivers give each other when we pass.

I jumped out and started filling my tank.

Once full and as I was climbing back into the driver’s door, the other owner made the mistake of engaging the chatty British guy. He had seen the sign on the side of my van saying Dog Adventures and gave me a nod of the head.

“Nice car” he said smiling

“Likewise” I replied, as we both chuckled.

We went on to chat for a few minutes about how the last weeks have not been as pleasant for finding cheap diesel. We agreed that it was a great start to this Thursday to find it at this price.

When he informed me that his tank was almost empty and that he was filling up, I congratulated him on his successful gamble with the fluctuating prices.

Eventually both of us needed to carry on our ways and get to work. We bid each other a fantastic Thursday and off chugged the two old vans.

Who would know that you could turn filling up with diesel into a very pleasant social experience.

By the way, my mood wasn’t affected when I found Diesel for 21.33 Nok per litre this afternoon….. You win some, you lose some
