The Day After

We hope that you have all had a wonderful 17th May celebrations yesterday with dogs, family and friends!

With National Day falling on a Sunday, it was always going to be an interesting start to the week for some.

Downtown Oslo was quiet, oh so very quiet this morning. Less cars, less people and those who were out and about either donned sunglasses despite the overcast weather, or they squinted through tired eyes as they navigated their way through town.

By late morning I was still witnessing some of the younger generation “making their way home”. It is easy to spot….. Unbuttoned shirt, dark suit and energy drink in one hand. It reminded me very much of the day after my graduation at University many years ago.

My National Day was slightly less raucous but extremely enjoyable. Around 0845am I summited Mellomkollen, alone with my dog, Minttu. Foggy and misty but gorgeous. Time for a quick awkward selfie with one of us enjoying the moment more than the other.

We even managed to find some snow (if you remember my list from Friday’s blog).

Then it was time to head back home and do some kid related 17th fun. Hot dogs, ice cream and finding the local School band as they walked through the neighbourhood.

It ended up as a relaxing Sunday of celebrating what Norway means to us.

To those who partied harder than I did (pretty much all of you), I wish you a speedy recovery!
