If you follow us on Instagram; firstly congratulations on having impeccable taste. Secondly, you might have seen the Instagram Story that I had lost my headphones on Wednesday.
Upon dropping off the last dog, I realized that they had fallen off from around my neck. I remembered using them just before my afternoon Adventure. This meant that they were either somewhere out in the woods, or had been dropped outside one of my dogs’ properties.
With my kids Summer Party going on in kindergarten I had no time to retrace my footsteps.
I decided that if they were in the woods I would walk on the same path again yesterday and try and find them.
Arriving at the woodlands yesterday, I discovered that half of my Wednesday route was now actually being used by some dog trainers who were in the middle of scent training.
I did not wish to disturb them whilst I had my dog pack with me. I therefore took an alternative route and completed a good adventure.
Upon finishing the walk I decided to drive to near where the dog trainers were parked up. I jumped out of the truck and retraced a little bit more of my Wednesday path. Eventually I approached the 3 Dog Trainers.
I immediately apologized for interrupting them mid training and politely explained that the day before I had lost my headphones in this area (maybe). I introduced myself and told them how they could get in contact with me were they to find them. I chatted with them for a few minutes and showed them a photo of the headphones, and I was enthusiastically greeted by some of their happy dogs.
Message delivered and I was now jogging back to my van to complete dropping off some happy, tired dogs. I had managed to actually cover a good deal of the path where I potentially had lost them, yet with no success.
It was time to move on, knowing that I had done as much as was within my control. Put it behind me and out of mind, I would just need to order some new headphones in the coming days. They are quite essential for being able to communicate with Walkers and Customers throughout the Walking Day without having to literally stop my van or pause mid adventure.
Fast forward about three hours and suddenly a message popped into my inbox. It was from one of the dog trainers informing me that they had not only found my headphones, but also hidden them near where their cars had been parked, ready for me to collect them at my convenience.
Grateful doesn’t begin to sum up the emotion. I responded immediately to the email to show my appreciation. The lady later replied to inform me that if by chance I were to find one of their dog training collars which had fallen off during the day in the same location, that they would be very grateful if I could repay the favour.
Needless to say I will be searching for it over the coming days and weeks when I walk in the same woodlands.
It is always amazing what can be done with a little help from your friends.
