An Unforgettable Evening

After Norway’s amazing victory over Brazil in the World Cup last night, it seems wrong to write about anything else.

Congratulations go out to Norway and all Norwegians on the result and ensuing celebrations, late into the night.

My chosen Homeland stepped up and delivered when it counted. Believe it or not, I actually had tipped Norway to win. Even my Norwegian friends looked quizzically at me pre-match when I made my prediction.

For many months I have dreamed of the scenario we now find ourselves in….. A quarter final against England.

My Birthplace vs the country I call home. It just had to happen, and I believed it would.

It is a win – win situation for me. I have supported England since I was younger than my children, and will cheer on England on Saturday. Yet if England lose, I will rejoice in the joy and euphoria which will continue to pervade Norway. The country has gone full in on this World Cup and it has been a true joy to witness.

And so, may the best team win on Saturday night 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇧🇻

In the meantime we can all dream on and enjoy this gorgeous weather.
